The 30 Day TV Detox- Day 1

For the next 30 days, I'm unplugging the television.  Well, metaphorically speaking that is... I am going to allow them 1 hour of television per day.  It seems like a lot, but let's face it, we all get into the tube groove.  You know, where you leave the TV on all day.  My daughter is so addicted to Disney Junior, she sings the Disney Junior commercial.  This momma is mad (at myself)!
I have decided to regain control of my household, to put up with the fighting, whining, and pining for my attention.  My two and three year old really need to strengthen their problem solving skills, and most importantly they need structured and unstructured play.

Five things we accomplished this morning:
1. Finger painting (yes it was a mess, but they had fun)
2. Simon made a monkey jungle out of the kitchen chairs and stools.
3. Simon and Vivi learned how to play hide and seek.
4. They played with their instruments under the kitchen table.
5. The sit and spin was a big hit.

I hope we (my husband and I) can make it for 30 days!  Have you unplugged your TV? How did you keep your sanity?

  1. Sounds like Kameron and Disney Jr....well Mickey Mouse. He loves him some MM! We need a tv detox here. One that coincides with an iPad detox :)

    1. Oh yeah... Even though we did this detox, MM is still in the house, full force. Honestly, it's the only way I can get anything done.
